The road will connect Mabini, Bauan, San Luis, Taal, and Lemery towns, and it will lessen travel time once completed, according to the presentation of DPWH regional director Jovel G. Mendoza.

The total length of the coastal road to be constructed is 21.71 kilometers, of which 13.87 kilometers are under the jurisdiction of the Batangas second legislative district and the remaining 7.84 kms are within the Batangas first district.

Project cost is P5,302,160,450.79.

Aside from the travel time, it will also serve as the access road to the coastal part of Bauan and San Luis, and most likely the residents from nearby municipalities of San Pascual and Batangas City would also benefit much from the road.

Mendoza said the proposed alignment is composed of existing and unpaved roads. Specifically, it involves the construction of a new road or missing links and a possible reconstruction and rehabilitation of existing local and barangay roads for it to be in accordance with the specific design standard of DPWH for national roads.

“The province is accessible from Metro Manila. People living in Metro choose Batangas as their place to go for a quick vacation, thus, with the growing tourism industry in the province, an increase in road connectivity and a better road is essential,” Mendoza added.

The  project was made possible through the help of Batangas Rep. Gerville “Jinky Bitrics” Luistro.

Present during the ceremony were Rep. Ralph Recto, Cavite Rep. Lani Mercado-Revilla, San Luis Mayor Oscarlito Hernandez, Vice Mayor Mayor Ma-an de Gracia, District Engineer Sonia Paglicuan, and other local officials.
