The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday, April 2 said the northeasterly wind flow and Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will continue to bring cloudy skies and rain to various parts of Luzon and Mindanao over the next 24 hours.
PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja said Batanes, Cagayan, Apayao, Isabela, and Aurora will experience cloudy skies and rain due to the northeasterly wind flow, which is associated with a slight cold breeze.
He added that the ITCZ will affect Davao Oriental, Davao Occidental, Sarangani, South Cotabato, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, bringing cloudy skies, scattered rains, and thunderstorms.
The ITCZ occurs when winds from the northern and southern hemispheres converge and form rain-bearing clouds.
PAGASA warned of the possibility of flash floods or landslides in areas affected by these weather systems, especially during moderate to heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will experience generally warm conditions, partly cloudy to cloudy skies, and isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, due to the easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean.
The public is urged to remain vigilant during severe thunderstorms, which could trigger flash floods or landslides.
Estareja added that there is a slim chance of a tropical cyclone developing until the weekend.
