Horror-comedy 'Renfield' opens in Philippine Cinemas tomorrow
Two words that will convince you to watch this movie: Nicolas Cage.
There are two words that will convince you to watch this movie: Nicolas Cage.
The esteemed actor has reached the point in his career where he simply portrays his audacious self on-screen, and that is perfectly all right.
In fact, we expect that of him. A lot of fans (including the author), would watch a movie just to see him scream, and laugh, and ham it all up for our amusement.
Nicolas Cage as Dracula
"Renfield" is no exception. The new movie by Universal Pictures gives us a unique take on the much rehashed vampire mythology, now focusing the spotlight on Dracula's abused eternal henchman - the eponymous Renfield (played by nicholas Hoult). In the movie, Renfield, after serving his exploitative master for nigh on a century, realizes that he's in an abusive relationship with his master, Dracula (again, played deliciously by Nicholas Cage). Now set in the modern world, Renfield must find a way to remove his toxic boss out of his life.
Nicholas Hoult as Renfield
What comes after is a delightful romp filled with blood, guts, comedy, and even more gore; it's a vampire movie afterall. Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians) also lends her talents as a New Orleans police officer named Rebecca. "Renfield" opens in Philippine cinemas on April 26, 2023. Check out the trailer below:
