We’ve tried these new tea coolers and here’s what we think

Macao Imperial Tea and Twinings of London bring together a beverage line that is perfect for the summer season

It is an understatement to say that the summer season in the Philippines is intense. As the temperature peaks, Filipinos are coming up with different ways to cool themselves down, which usually involves going out of town for a swim or maybe cranking the AC up a bit for a little respite from the heat. Another thing many do is sip on some palamig (coolers). If you’re in dire need of one, there’s a new line of beverages that is perfect for the season.

Offering refreshing antidotes to summer heat is Macao Imperial Tea, one of the biggest milk tea chains in the country, as it partners with the oldest tea brand in the world, Twinings of London. Their collaboration presents six newly curated tea coolers, merging fruity goodness with the flavor notes of the beloved British tea brand.

“Macao Imperial Tea is thrilled to be working with Twinings Tea on this exciting project,” says Avin Ong, CEO of Fredley Group of Companies. “We are confident that our combined strengths and passion for tea will result in this exceptional beverage that will captivate tea lovers everywhere, especially during this warm season."

“With the warmer season approaching, this partnership is perfect timing to offer tea enthusiasts a refreshing yet unique summer drink experience with a twist. Enjoy the drinks from morning till evening,” Twinings’ brand manager Jeanne Harn adds.

To launch the newest tea coolers, Macao Imperial Tea and Twinings transformed SM Megamall’s Mega Fashion Hall into a garden setup fit for a grand tea party complete with fun booths where people can play and try their latest creations. Manila Bulletin Lifestyle got the chance to try beverages and here’s what we think of them.

First is the Cheesecake Peach Tea, an indulgent drink combining Twinings’ peach-flavored black tea with the distinct cheesecake blend of Macao Imperial Tea. This one is quite a unique mix, with the salty-sweet flavor and velvety texture of cheesecake contrasting the tanginess of the tea.

If you like your tea cooler on the sweeter side, Strawberry Mango Tea is the perfect pick. As the name suggests, the cup features a combination of strawberry and mango flavors that are suited for the season. Pieces of mango and white pearls are also added to the mix for texture. It is summer in a cup.

This is one of our favorites. The Camomile Honey Tea with Vanilla is just a chill drink you can have at any time of the day. Its charm lies in its simplicity with aromatic camomile tea mixed with rich honey and a hint of vanilla.

Something floral is the Mango Jasmine Green Tea. Fragrant and delicate, the tea cooler features a mix of delicious mango and jasmine tea, giving a drink that is the very definition of tropical bliss.

Tea purists will definitely love the Earl Grey Lemon Tea. The elegant drink has the signature zesty bergamot flavor of fine black tea blended, which is blended with lemons, creating a refreshing light tea experience any time of the summer day.

Last is the Lemon Ginger Tea. Think of it as an elevated salabat because that’s what you’re going to get. It is citrusy thanks to the lemon and has a spicy kick due to the ginger.

All six of the Macao Imperial Tea and Twinings Cool Refreshers are now available at Macao Imperial Tea shops. To know more about it, visit @macaoimperialteaph on Instagram.
