GENERAL SANTOS CITY – A police officer is facing criminal and administrative charges for assaulting his girlfriend during a birth anniversary bash in Kidapawan City shortly after midnight on Monday, April 10.
Police Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg, Police Regional Office-12 (Soccksargen) director, ordered the dismissal of Police Corporal Louie Jay Lumancas, 28, assigned to the Magpet Municipal Police Station in North Cotabato, after the video of the incident went viral in social media.
Lumancas was seen beating Shaira Kasmayor Kahar, 27, while poking a gun at the victim.
The suspect reportedly got jealous upon seeing her with another man at the party.
Lumancas was arrested by responding policemen from the Kidapawan City Police Station while the victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
Police Col. Harold Ramos, Cotabato Police Provincial Office director and the immediate superior of Lumancas, personally confronted the suspect at the custodial facility of the Kidapawan City Police Station and stripped him of his police badge.
Macaraeg said he will not condone the abuses of policemen especially those involved in domestic violence.
He said the suspect will be subjected to a drug test to confirm if he is using illegal drugs.
