Vice President Sara Duterte revealed that she has been summoned by the Office of the Prosecutor based on the case filed against her by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

The official said this during an ambush interview in Sogod, Leyte on Tuesday, April 29.
“In fact, ako man ay naka-receive din kanina ng summons sa Office of the Prosecutor sa finile ng National Bureau of Investigation na kaso laban sa akin (I also received summons from the Office of the Prosecutor on the case filed against me by the National Bureau of Investigation),” she shared.
Duterte did not mention the circumstances of the NBI charges against her, but the bureau in February this year filed grave threats and inciting to sedition charges before the Department of Justice (DOJ).
This was in connection with her previous remarks in November 2024 regarding hiring someone to assassinate President Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and Speaker Martin Romualdez if she herself gets killed.
She said this amid a House panel inquiry into her office’s use of confidential funds and the detention of her chief-of-staff, Office of the Vice President (OVP) Undersecretary Zuleika Lopez.
The charges were filed after the Vice President skipped two invitations from the NBI to attend the investigations in November and December last year.
It will now be up to the Office of the Prosecutor to decide whether to file cases in the courts or not.
The Vice President, however, did not mention if she plans to answer the summons.
Duterte shared this information after she was asked about the non-bailable qualified human trafficking and several counts of human trafficking charges filed against former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, Cassandra Ong, and more than 40 others over their alleged involvement in the illegal activities of the now-banned Philippine offshore gaming operator (POGO) hub Lucky South 99 Corp. in Porac, Pampanga.
“Hindi na tayo nagugulat, ‘no, na merong case kay dating spokesperson Atty. Harry Roque, dahil isa talaga siya sa mga malakas ang boses at malakas ang loob na magsabi kung ano ang mali sa administrasyon ngayon (We are not surprised anymore that there’s a case against former spokesperson Atty. Harry Roque because he’s one of the loudest voices and courage to criticize the administration),” she said.
Roque is currently seeking asylum in the Netherlands after going under the radar and leaving the Philippines in November 2024.
