It is an understatement to say that Binondo is one of the best places in Manila City to go on a food adventure. With its mix of classic and modern food spots, people can satisfy their hunger in more ways than one in the area. That said, with its popularity, dining in Binondo can be a challenge with restaurants having long queues, especially during the weekend. If you’re planning a food trip in Binondo and only have a few hours to savor all its best eats, our advice is to start your gastronomic journey with some of Binondo’s street eats while waiting in line.
From egg tarts to fried siopao and custard lava buchi, there’s a myriad of handheld treats you can munch on while waiting for your table. Lucky for foodies out there, there’s a new dish to add to that list. Chinese deli Eng Bee Tin recently launched its newest streetside offering, fried xiao long bao.
Eng Bee Tin's fried xiao long bao
Available only at the brand’s flagship store, the fried goodies are everything you want your xiao long baos should be, but better. Their wrapper gets a delectable chewy texture. As soon as you sink your teeth into them, you’ll get a taste of its soup and juicy meat. To make it even more special, the cooks serve them drenched in their dipping sauce, with a drizzle of chili oil, and a springkling of chives.
Eng Bee Tin’s fried xiao long baos are priced at P125 (five pieces) and are available on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at its kiosk infront of its Binondo store. To know more about it, visit @iloveengbeetin on Instagram.
