At this point, there isn’t anybody who hasn’t heard of TikTok, the short form video social media platform whose popularity rose during the pandemic. Whether it be trendy dances, humorous clips or playful filters, almost everyone has probably watched at least one TikTok video by now.
The concept of short, speedy videos are a big hit and has even been replicated by other social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram.
But TikTok videos aren’t just for jokes, dances or silly clips. Many TikTokers have grabbed the opportunity to use the platform to present something educational and creative, especially for agriculture.
Here are three Pinoy agri TikTokers that are sure to teach you a thing or two about plants and farming.
*Millennial couple Chloei and Christian are diligent corporate workers during the week and passionate farmers on the weekends. (Chloei Capili)*
The TikTok account Work From Farm is handled by a millennial couple, Chloei Capili and Christian Pabelico, who work weekdays as 9-5 corporate workers. On weekends they travel to their farm in Bailen, Cavite and tend to their crops.
They’ve been planting since 2022, and their videos are mainly about tips they’ve learned while experimenting with crop planting, as well as emphasizing the importance of research before venturing into planting a new crop.
The couple show the charm of spending a quiet weekend in the province right after a hectic week in the city. Their position as novice farmers help their audience feel less intimidated to learn about farming.

*Tinao is a biologist who has set himself to become TikTok’s plant science and food safety educator. (Mark Joseph Tinao)*
TikToker Seph\_scientist’s real name is Mark Joseph Tinao, a biologist who uses the platform to share lessons about plant science, food safety, and environmental science. He is also an advocate of farm tourism as he believes that it is a value-adding scheme with high potential.
He was inspired by other educational TikTokers like Coach Lyqa, who helps others through motivational speeches, and Arshie the Pharmacist, who guides others to proper medicine usage. He decided to be the agricultural and environmental counterpart to these creative educators.
Besides food safety and plant science, Tinao also makes videos on how to access benefits and loans from government agencies which can help startup farming businesses.

The video immediately went viral, and Suavengco decided to go bigger and created a larger urban garden on the rooftop of a 24-storey building in Taguig. As an agricultural student with first-hand experience, Suavengco is able to incorporate different tips in her videos. She also readily replies to her audience’s questions about urban hydroponics farming. Driven with the desire to teach, Suavengco is also planning to set up an online course on urban gardening. She is also driven to inspire her fellow youth to choose agriculture as a career.
