Leni: Revolutionary gov't a huge nonsense

Vice President Leni Robredo has dismissed the call for a revolutionary government from supporters of the administration, calling it a "huge nonsense."

During her weekly radio program Sunday, Robredo questioned the motives of the call for a revolutionary government which she said seeks to overthrow the Constitution.

"Una, ano ba iyong gustong sabihin ng call for revolutionary government? Ang gustong sabihin, ang hinihingi dito, itapon iyong Konstitusyon natin (First of all, what does it mean when they call for a revolutionary government? What it wants is to overthrow our Constitution)," she said.

"Diyan pa lang, ilegal na iyan. So ang tanong ko: Bakit hinahayaan? (From there, it is already ilegal. So my question is: Why is this being tolerated?)," she added.

Robredo suspects that such an exercise will carry on even amid the pandemic. She found it ironic that public officials such as the chief of the Philippine National Police, Police Gen. Archie Gamboa, were invited when they are the ones who are supposed to guard the Constitution.

She said the government should be prioritizing efforts on the battle against the pandemic instead of devoting much attention to issues such as the Anti-Terror law, ABS-CBN closure, Constitutional amendments, the revolutionary government, and federalism.
