Fifth installment of 'John Wick' back in the table - Producers
Producers of the “John Wick" series of films are thinking of creating a fifth installment.
This, after the global success of the fourth iteration of the hit franchise, which opened in cinemas last March 22.
The unofficial earnings of the film on opening week stand at $73.8 million in the US.
Overseas, the movie reportedly earned $67.6 million.
It is reportedly the best performing opening week for the movie series.
While “John Wick: Chapter 4” seems to go out of its way to imply that it is the final film in the franchise, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Joe Drake intimated that “a fifth film is back on the table after the latest movie’s astonishing opening at the global box office.” “There’s a will and an openness. And you could certainly interpret that ending in different ways,” said Drake, adding: “We’re all going to take a tiny rest here and then scratch at ideas about whether there’s a credible way to get into five.” But he was quick to add: “There’s no guarantee.” “John Wick: Chapter 4” stars Keanu Reeves, Donnie Yen, Ian McShane, Laurence Fishburne, Hiroyoki Sanada, Bill Skarsgard, (the late) Lance Reddick among others and is directed by Chad Stahelski. “John Wick: Chapter 4” is the second-best domestic opening for a live-action movie for Keanu behind “The Matrix Reloaded.” Regardless of whether chapter 5 materializes, Keanu will return as John Wick in “Ballerina” starring Ana De Armas. It is a spin-off that is said to take place between the events of “John Wick 3: Parabellum” and Chapter 4.
