
Only 2,527 of the 48,572 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) in the seven prison facilities of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) remained unvaccinated against COVID-19 as of Jan. 4.
This means that the BuCor had vaccinated almost 95 percent of all prisoners under its supervision.
Based on BuCor’s records, there were 25,238 PDLs who had been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, while 20,817 others had received their first dose.
The same records showed that the highest number of vaccinees was from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City with 27,631 or about 96.8 per cent of the facility’s 28,541 prison population.
There were 3,297 vaccinated PDLs at the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City; Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) in Occidental Mindoro, 2,352; San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF) in Zamboanga City, 1,716; Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) in Palawan, 2,702; Leyte Regional Prison (LRP), 2,120; and Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF) and its CIW, 6,227.
