Another employee of the Department of Justice (DOJ) was found on Wednesday morning, March 17, infected with the corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19), Undersecretary Emmeline Aglipay Villar said.
With the new infection, there are now nine active COVID-19 cases which are being monitored by the DOJ, Villar said.
The eight cases were detected the past weeks and those infected are undergoing treatment and quarantine, she said.
Since March 2020, a total of 27 employees – including the nine new ones – have been infected. Villar lamented that one of those infected last year had died but “due to other causes.”
Justice Secretary Menardo I. Guevarra ordered work suspension at the DOJ until Tuesday, March 16, for disinfection and cleaning of the offices and buildings.
