The Department of Justice-Office of Cybercrime (DOJ-OCC) has started probing the sex video that linked one of the daughters of presidential candidate and Vice President Leni Robredo.
“Our investigation agents are on it,” DOJ-OCC Officer-in-Charge Director Charito A. Zamora said on Tuesday, April 12.
“If it needs further investigation, we will indorse the same to the NBI (National Bureau of Investigation) Cybercrime Division,” she said.
She noted that the camp of Vice President Robredo has not yet reached out to the DOJ-OCC to investigate the matter. Robredo’s camp had earlier issued a statement that the sex video is fake.
Robredo’s Spokesman Barry Gutierrez said that her camp will be taking action against those behind the fake sex video.
“Malinaw na krimen ito (This is clearly a crime),” he said in a statement.
“This is a malicious fabrication and we have reported it to the platforms concerned para matake-down (to take down). Our lawyers are studying our options for legal action,” he added.
He theorized that the fake video is part of the tactics to lure Robredo’s supporters to attack other candidates and prevent more converts to the vice president’s side.
“Kaya nga ang tamang response dito: Hold the line tayo para sa pag-ibig. Be firm but kind sa pagtatama ng disinformation, kahit gaano ito kawalanghiya (That’s why the right response: hold the line for love. Be firm but kind in correcting disinformation no matter how shameful it is),” he said.
