BATANGAS – Five suspected thieves who allegedly stole the generator of a telecommunications company were apprehended by police on Tuesday morning, March 22, in Barangay Bugagan East in Agoncillo town in this province.
The arrested suspects were identified as Wilfred Labapis,30, single; Robert Biñan, 54; Albert Aquilino, 51, single; Edwardo Rosales, 48, single; and Rafael Gonzaga, 46, single.
All are residents of Tondo Manila, according to the report of Col. Pedro Soliba, Batangas Police director.
The report added that the suspects stole the generator of the Globe Cell Site in Agoncillo town.
Based on the investigation of Agoncillo police and the eyewitness account, the incident happened around 4 a.m. on March 22, 2023, when the five suspects stole the generator using a boom truck.
The witness reported the incident to the police who then conducted a follow-up operation. The police relayed the incident to the Laurel Municipal Police Station. Less than two hours later, the suspects were arrested.
Police confiscated a Fuso Canter Boom truck, heavy-duty wrench pipe, chain (Kadena), sledgehammer, and the stolen generator.
Criminal complaint is filed in court against the suspects who are now detained at the Agoncillo Police custodial facility.
“We appeal to the people of Batangas and those who have been victims of this group, to inform us for immediate action and investigation. To those who witness any type of crime, do not be afraid to report it to the authorities", Soliba said.
