The Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced on Tuesday, March 21, is set to provide a copy of its transmission logs to Ret. Col. Leonardo Odoño who requested it after expressing doubts about the transmission of votes in the May 2022 polls.
In a letter signed by Comelec Chairman George Garcia dated March 20, he said that to "erase doubts' regarding the transmission of votes during the first hour after the close of polls during the May 2022 elections, he is "very much willing" to provide the requested transmission logs.
Garcia stated that it is still subject to the confirmation of the Commission En Banc. The poll chief added that the same document was also provided to the Joint Congressional Oversight Committee on the Automated Elections Systems and the Parish Pastoral Council on Responsible Voting in 2022.
According to the letter, Ordoño called the transmission of votes an hour of the close of polls "questionable".
In a televised interview on DZMM, Ordoño presented himself as a concerned citizen who also called the transmission of votes an hour after the close of polls to be "impossible".
"The Commission hopes that the provision of the transmission logs will clear the controversies you stated. However, any subsequent specific questions that you may have on the transmission logs will be answered by the Commission," the letter read.
In a message to reporters, Garcia stated that even without the request, his office will be providing the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP), as well poll watchdogs National Movement for Free Elections (NAMFREL) and Legal Network for Truthful Elections (Lente) with certified hard copies.
