NBI arrests 2 persons for land survey with 'fake documents'
Two persons, who allegedly offered land survey services through online but who reportedly issued “fake documents,” have been arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Tanay, Rizal during an entrapment operation.
They were identified by the NBI as Luisa D. Rigunay and Lester D. Rigunay who were arrested by agents of the bureau’s Cybercrime Division (NBI-CCD).
After their arrest last March 9, Luisa and Lester were charged with estafa under Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code (RPC) in relation to Section 6 of Republic Act No. 10175, the Cybercrime Prevention Act, and falsification of public documents under Article 172 of the RPC.
The complaints against Luisa and Lester were filed by their alleged victims, themselves, the NBI said in a statement.
It said the complainants alleged that two arrested persons “offered land surveying services through social media but issued forged lot plans and falsified documents.”
“With this, complainants were able to set a meeting with the Subjects to engage in a new contract, and pretentiously to pay their balance from previous engagements,” it said.
During the entrapment operation, the NBI said “after the Subjects accepted the boodle money as payment, agents of the NBI-CCD immediately apprehended and placed Subjects under arrest.”
