Imee Marcos not interested in DA portfolio

Senator Imee Marcos has no interest or plans in becoming the Department of Agriculture (DA) secretary.

Marcos, elder sister of President Marcos, however, thanked those who endorsed her but emphasized that she was voted as senator where she could help the agriculture sector through legislation and other ways.

President Marcos holds the DA portfolio while he scouts for his nominee.

The lady lawmaker said she has many things to do as chairwoman of various committees.

She is the current chairwoman of the committee on foreign relations, committee on electoral reforms and people’s participation, committee on cooperatives and, committee on social justice.

The Samahang Industriya ng Agrikultura (SINAG) had pushed for her being appointed as DA secretary.

Senator Marcos has repeatedly asked her brother to be angry at smugglers if agricultural produce as they are the cause behind the huge losses of farmers.
