Everything But The Girl gets thoughtful in 'Run A Red Light'
The flurry of new activity from Everything But The Girl's Ben Watt and Tracey Thorn continues with the release of a new single titled “Run A Red Light.”
Released early this week, “Run A Red Light” dropped with an accompanying music video directed by Charlie Di Placido who also made the duo’s “Nothing Left To Lose” video. Piano-decked "Run A Red Light" harks back to the duo's folk-jazz and soft pop leanings. Their last release was 24 years ago with 1999’s “Temperamental” album. The pulsing, made-for-the-club single “Nothing Left To Lose” was released first followed by the equally hypnotic and ambient “Caution To The Wind.” The announcement of “Run A Red Light” as a single and the release of its music video was announced March 15. Watt and Thorn are laying the groundwork for the forthcoming release of a new album. Said record will be titled “Fuse” and is scheduled to come out April 21 of this year. Written and produced by the duo back in 2021, “Fuse” is described as “a modern take on the lustrous electronic soul of the band first pioneered in the mid-90’s.” Everything But The Girl first broke into the UK indie scene in 1982.
