Guanzon explains why she won't be paying her income tax

Having no salary means having no need to pay income tax.

P3PWD Party-list nominee Rowena Guanzon espoused this logic via Twitter on Wednesday, Feb. 8.

"Hindi ako magbabayad ng taxes. Hindi naman ako sinweldohan ni Speaker Martin eh. Walang sueldo, walang income tax (I will not pay taxes. Speaker Martin didn't pay me my salary. No salary, no income tax)," she wrote.

Guanzon was referring to Speaker Martin Romualdez, the head honcho of the House of Representatives.

It was June 23, 2022 when Guanzon took her oath as P3PWD Party-list representative in the 19th Congress. However, she hasn't been able to assume her House seat due to the Supreme Court's (SC) issuance of a temporary restraining order (TRO).

The TRO stemmed from Duterte Youth Party-list's petition to have the SC review the Commission on Election’s (Comelec) decision to allow Guanzon to substitute as first nominee of P3PWD Party-list despite the lapse of the substitution deadline.

P3PWD Party-list only has one seat in the 19th Congress. Guanzon is not included on the roll of House members, at least not yet.

There are currently 311 House members.
