After two years, Art Fair Philippines is back!

Published Feb 6, 2023 04:02 pm

Here's what to expect from their long-awaited comeback

It is such a heartening thought that, even though we are still in a state of lockdown due to Covid-19, we are now seeing galleries, theater plays, and outdoor fairs returning to their pre-pandemic state.

A great example—Art Fair Philippines is back! After three years, Art Fair will again transform The Link carpark in Makati City into a multi-level art exhibition venue. The fair will take place from Feb. 17 to 19, 2023. Notably, this year will feature a new "biophilic" design, which the organizers say will give fairgoers "a refreshed experience in an organically designed setting, enhancing the spirit of discovery and surprise when exploring the space."

Art Fair Philippines goes back to The Link for its 10th year

Art FairPH/Digital

Apart from the traditional arts, Art Fair will introduce a new section in the fair, the digital arts.

In the new section, Art Fair will focus on works that incorporate computer technology, animation, augmented reality (AR), non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and the metaverse.

The digital section will highlight two exhibits from notable Filipino digital artists: New York-based Skye Nicolas with his "Frequencies of Nostalgia" show, and Mark Inducil from Melbourne, with "Homecoming."

These special exhibits are curated by CryptoArtPH artists Bjorn Calleja and Jopet Arias.

Learning at #ArtFairPH

ArtFairPH/Talks, created in partnership with the Ateneo Art Gallery and Museum Foundation of the Philippines, seeks to provide learning opportunities for Art Fair Philippines visitors with a variety of lectures, panel discussions, and artists talks.

Augmenting the learning opportunities at the fair is ArtFairPH/Workshops, which focuses this year on digital art. Attend their workshops to find out how to become a digital artist and learn more about the local crypto art scene in the Philippines.

10 Days of Art and the Gallery Weekend

As a companion event to the fair, there will also be a "10 Days of Art" event, which will run from Feb. 10 to 19. The shows are meant to "celebrate art beyond the venue of the fair," according to the organizers.

The exhibits will take place around the Makati Central Business District, with participation from galleries, museums, bars, restaurants, and retail establishments.

For schedule and updates, visit www.10daysofart.com.

Fair tickets can be purchased in advance at www.artfairphilippines.com. Tickets will also be available at the reception area of Art Fair Philippines from Feb. 17 to 19.
