After months of waiting, fans finally got an update on DCU from James Gunn himself.
Gunn announced recently that he and co-CEO Peter Zafran are working on a reboot of the DCU.
The director stated on the official DC Youtube channel, “As many of you know, DC has been disconnected in film and television for a long time. Our jobs, mine and (co-CEO) Peter’s (Zafran) is to come in and make sure that DCU is connected in film, television and gaming and animation. That the characters are consistent, played by the same actors, and it works within one story.”
Gunn then enumerated the forthcoming titles in the DCU that he, Safran and the writers have mapped out.
He maintained it will be an “eight to ten year plan" on what DC Studios will work on including "film, television and gaming.”
The film projects are; “Superman: Legacy”; the superhero ensemble “The Authority”; “The Brave and The Bold” featuring Batman with the Damian Wayne version of Robin; “Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow” and “Swamp Thing.”

The TV part of the DCU are; the animated series “Creature Commandos”; “Waller” which will bring back actress Viola Davis; the live-action “Booster Gold”; “Lanterns” which will focus on intergalactic cops Hal Jordan and John Stewart; and “Paradise Lost” which is set in Themyscira, home of Wonder Woman and the Amazons.
All aforementioned titles will form part of DC Universe's Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters.
He also confirmed that upcoming DC movies “Shazam,” “Aquaman 2,” “Flash,” and “Blue Beetle” will fold into the new DCU. Also noting that Matt Reeves’ “The Batman,” Todd Phillips “The Joker” will be part of DC Elseworld label which the writer-director said will exist “outside of the mainstream DC continuity.”
"Storytelling is always king, that's all that matters to us," Gunn said, adding, "I want to be true to these stories, true to you guys and give you something different than you've seen before."
