Pushing 70, Sen. Lito Lapid admits he sometimes gets nervous before pulling off a stunt on TV series, FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.

“Yung pagtalun-talon, kaya ng isip ko, pero baka hindi ng katawan ko,” the moonlighting actor told a recent mediacon.

Nonetheless, the 70s-80s top action star continues to do his own stunts on the high-rating teleserye starring Coco Martin. He also serves as the show’s stunt director.

As to the status of his health, Lapid said he’s still maintenance-free and tries to live healthy.

“Pag may time, nag-eensayo rin ako.”

Sen. Lapid hosted a thanksgiving lunch for media November  at a Quezon City restaurant. He invited Jessie Chua of Mirrick Films, the first producer, who gambled on him, then an unknown stuntman, to join him on the presidential table.

Chua launched Lito Lapid as the star of The Jesse Lapid Story, a film bio on the life of Lito’s famous uncle.

Gratitude is one good trait we see in Sen. Lapid, who has not forgotten to look back and thank those who supported him along the way.

He said humbly that while he may not be well versed in English being only a high school graduate, he makes up for this by helping people. This, he thinks, is the secret behind his popularity as a public servant.

For a change, movie industry activist and Borracho Film Productions president, Atty. Ferdie Topacio, applauded the MMFF executive committee for coming up with a line-up of what he considers 10 good films in this year’s edition of the 49-year old festival.

“I think my rantings in the past years have finally bore fruit and they finally listened. This time, we won’t have those inane comedies already,” he told a recent media con.

Atty. Topacio announced with pride that starting December 1, his award-winning film, Mamasapano: Now It Can Be Told, will be seen on Netflix.

Last year, it garnered five awards at the MMFF.

Borracho Productions is set to level up in 2024 with a new office in Makati. The company plans to produce at least 5 movies next year covering a wide range of genres. Two of these are titled ‘Pain’ and ‘To The Moon.’

Topacio said his other production, Spring in Prague, will becompleted in January. Winter scenes will be shot in the Czech Republic.

The film has finished shooting its Philippine scenes featuring Paulo Gumabao and Sara Sandeva, a Czech actress, who was expressly flown in as leading lady.

Borracho Films, according to Topacio, hopes to become a major player in the local movie industry. The company has also launched its own talent development division.
