P220M worth of 'fake' Louis Vuitton products seized by NBI
Over P220 million worth of alleged fake Louis Vuitton products have been seized by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) during operations conducted in Metro Manila.
In a statement, the NBI said it “implemented seven Search Warrants against the owner/s and/or operator/s and/or occupants of No. 24 Maysilo Street, Malabon City and six stalls in 168 Shopping Mall in the City of Manila for violation of Republic Act No. 8293, the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.”
It said the operations conducted by the NBI’s Intellectual Property Rights Division (NBI-IPRD) last Nov. 28 "resulted in the seizure of 2,309 pieces of Louis Vuitton products worth P226,610,277."
The NBI's statement, however, did not say if persons were arrested during the operations and charged for their alleged offense.
Last Nov. 21, the NBI said it seized P1.5 million worth of "fake" bags, rash guards, and insecticides bearing known trademarks of the products.
Thos seized included P853,140 worth of fake "Hawk" bags from two storage facilities in barangay Talampas in Bustos, Bulacan; P200,000 worth of fake rash guards with "HOPO" and "OOP" trademarks seized in Pasay City; P450,000 worth of insecticides seized from two warehouses in Tondo, Manila.
