Security guard dies after being hit by mixer truck

CEBU CITY – A security guard was killed after he was run over by a mixer truck while he was driving a motorcycle in Barangay Tejero here on Thursday night, December 28.

Police identified the fatality as Christopher Moral, 43, a resident of Barangay Paknaan, Mandaue City.

The truck was driven by Sergio Villaflor, a 34-year-old resident of Barili town, Cebu.

Investigation conducted by the  Traffic Enforcement Unit of the Cebu City Police Office showed that Moral and Villaflor stopped for traffic on T. Padilla St.

When the traffic light turned green, Moral tried to overtake the truck on the right side.

Villaflor told investigators that he did not see a motorcycle trying to overtake him.

He said he later felt something hitting the truck that prompted him to stop.

When he went on to check, he found the bloodied security guard pinned under the truck.

Police said the driver and the victim’s family have reached an amicable settlement.
