A total 161,664 passenger arrivals in the country was recorded from Dec. 23 to 25, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Tuesday, Dec. 26.
“It’s a cause for celebration for the tourism and international travel sectors,” BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said in a statement.
Tansingo said BI records also showed that there were 130,497 passenger departures for the past three days ending Dec. 25.
Of the number of arrivals, 81 per cent were at the the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), he said.
“International travel is not just on a rebound. Figures show that the number of travelers is almost surpassing pre-pandemic numbers,” he added.
He noted that prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, there had been been an average of 55,000 daily arrivals and 47,000 daily departures during the month of December.
