BI notes rise in passenger arrivals this Christmas

About 120,000 passengers arrived at the country's airports last Dec. 22 and 23, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Sunday, Dec. 24.

BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said the bureau recorded a rise in the number of passenger arrivals compared to the first week of December.

Citing an example, Tansingco said that P51,390 passengers arrived in the country last Dec. 1.

He assured the despite the rise in number of passenger arrivals, BI has enough manpower in the country’s international airports. “All hands on deck for our immigration officers,” he said.

“We commend our frontline personnel who remain on duty and sacrifice time with their families during the holidays to be able to service the traveling public,” he added.

He remainded passengers to register via the etravel portal at etravel.gov.ph at least 72 hours prior to arrival or departure from the country.
