Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Richard Gordon expressed sorrow and outrage over the violent killing of a PRC employee’s father during the holiday season.

“I denounce the killing of Romeo Lagado, a 59-year-old family man, who was stabbed to death by two truck loading assistants while at work right before Christmas,” Gordon said in a statement released on Friday, Dec. 22.
Lagado was brutally attacked and fatally stabbed at the Dagonoy Public Market in San Andres Bukid, Manila, just after midnight.

Romeo was the father of John Paul Lagado, a PRC employee and a Red Cross Youth volunteer for seven years.
Gordon urged authorities to ensure that the perpetrators face the full consequences of their actions.
“We are deeply affected at the Red Cross. I call on the Philippine National Police to bring justice to Mr. Lagado’s senseless death by apprehending the brothers, aged 26 and 28 years old, who took advantage of the victim through superior force and numbers by punching him, chasing him, and stabbing the older Lagado unceasingly,” Gordon said.
One of the suspects is currently under police custody, while the other is still at large.
