Trash burning inside Bilibid's reservation prohibited -- Bucor
Personnel of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) have been prohibited from burning trash inside the facility's reservation in Muntinlupa City, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said.
“All BuCor personnel residing at NBP Reservation are hereby directed to strictly observe and/or comply with the Anti-Burning Law or prohibition in burning leaves, waste materials and garbage in all areas of the reservation,” reads its advisory posted by BuCor on its Facebook account.
BuCor Security and Escort Command (BSEC) has been tasked to “facilitate actions such as conducting house-to-house information drives, posting of tarpaulins stating penalties under the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act or R.A. 9003 and the R.A. 8749 on Clean Air Act, and coordinating with Barangay Poblacion (of Muntinlupa City) to ensure proper implementation and administration of penalties for offenders.”
“The BSEC is directed to report violators for appropriate legal sanctions,” BuCor said.
BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. had bared plans to put up a water-to-energy facility at the Bilibid.
Catapang said the project will help Metro Manila with its garbage problems as well as generate income for BuCor.
If it becomes successful, Catapang plans to replicate the project in the other prison facilities of BuCor.
