BI arrests American 'pedophile' at Clark International Airport
An American "pedophile" wanted in his country on charges of sexually abusing children has been arrested at the Clark International Airport (CIA), the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Thursday, Dec. 14.
Commissioner Norman Tansingco identified the American as Daniel Griswold, 42, who was intercepted last Saturday, Dec. 9, by members of the BI's Border Control and Intelligtence Unit (BI-BCIU) before he could board his flight to Tokyo, Japan.
“He will be perpetually banned from entering the country as foreign pedophiles like him do not deserve the privilege to stay here even for a second,” Tansingco said.
“They (foreign pedophiles) should be kicked out because they pose a serious threat to our children, anyone of whom could be his next victim,” he said.
BI-BCIU Deputy Operations Chief Joseph Cueto said "Griswold was arrested after immigration officers who encountered [him] confirmed that the passenger and the American who is in our watchlist of wanted foreign fugitives are one and the same person."
Based on information from the United States authorities, “Griswold is the subject of an arrest warrant issued by a US district court in Oregon where he was charged with sexual exploitation of children, attempted sexual exploitation of children, and receiving child pornography," BI said.
It said that "Griswold was immediately turned over and committed to the BI warden facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City pending issuance of the order for his summary deportation by the bureau’s board of commissioners.”
