After debuting his collection in Paris in June, Pharrell Williams takes Louis Vuitton to the dazzling Avenue of Stars in Hong Kong as he unveils the brand’s pre-fall 2024 collection. The Victoria Harbour offers the perfect backdrop for the collection, which reimagines the wardrobe of a jet-setting gent, juggling business and holiday.
”It was inspired by the idea of a businessman in Hong Kong who has decided to spend a week or so in Hawaii on holiday,” Louis Vuitton’s men's creative director told Hypebeast. “But in the middle of his trip, he has to go back to Hong Kong for one day for a meeting he couldn’t move.”
To make the collection, the musician-turned-fashion designer merges dandy style with sailor aesthetic. The result is a collection with sharp tailoring, exotic colorways, modern florals, and ultra-chic layering. Present on the runway are the maison's classic patterns and emblems, a nod to the late fashion designer Virgil Abloh. The resort-ready 'fits and formal wear are paired with exaggerated sandals, sneakers, and mules with the iconic Damier pattern. Completing the looks are his latest accessories designs, from new versions of the Speedy bag to woven raffia pieces
Much like his previous show, the pre-fall 2023 runway presentation gathered many celebrities, which include Anson Lo, Sho Hirano, Dylan Wang, Stray Kids’ Felix and Rauw Alejandro, among others.
"The silhouette that you’re going to see is consistent with what I’m infatuated with when it comes to formal…which is the future of chic, dandy in a sailor suit, dandy in resort holiday," Pharrell muses.
