I have an on-and-off communication with Energy FM Owner Rebecca Ann Sy. (dinaig ang relasyon sa showbiz!) Fifteen years ago, news anchor Joee Guilas introduced me to Ma’am Becca. (tulay sa tamang daan ba ito?!) She offered me a slot on her station.  I was a TV news reporter at that time, but I decided to resign from my job and be a radio jock at Energy FM. (agad agad!) My tag “may ganon” started here. It also opened doors of television hosting opportunities for me. (muntik pa nga ako magpasexy sa pelikula!)

After two years, I left her station to join 103. 5 Wow FM. (mukha kasi akong pera!)

But when my Wow contract expired, Ma’am Becca asked me to return. (go ako kasi the price is right e!) I stayed with her network for four years. I again decided to leave, but this time for personal reasons (sa aming dalawa na lang yun!) I went to Win Radio, where I worked for five years. I just left last January. (dahil sa isang taong walang respeto sakin!)

I have been out of radio for 10 months now. I focus on my online shows and columns. But a friend thought of setting a lunch date with Ma’am Becca. (syempre kasama si Joee!) The last time I saw her was seven years ago. I thought I would cry when I reached our meeting place. (buti naisip ko masisisra make-up ko if I cry!) We had a nice chat. (feeling close ulit!)

It was good timing because Energy FM is celebrating its 25^th anniversary. I have witnessed her love and sacrifices for the network. I have also seen how she forgave those who tried to pull her down. (bigyan ng award yan!) 

In her anniversary speech, she shared: “Energy FM is like a baby to me. I have fought hard for it and watched it slowly grow with time. There were times when things were going downhill, and I was quite depressed. The journey was not smooth. We have had our ups and downs, and I thought moving on was impossible. But we have never backed down. Yet, today, I stand here, proud and happy. We are celebrating our 25th year, a milestone, our silver anniversary. We have come a long way since our humble beginnings; we have been through so much together and have grown up a lot, but one thing is certain: we would not be where we are today without you.”  (ibang baby yung nasa isip ko!)

She also included these words of wisdom: “This company has taught me valuable life lessons. Let me share it with you. When there are things that we want in life, they tend to consume our thoughts. We start to obsessively think about what we want most, which takes up much of our time, energy, and thought. Turn that obsessive thought into prayer. Give it to God and let Him take care of it. Stop worrying and trying to achieve everything independently and ask God for help." (bigla kong naramdaman yung Energy ha!)
