CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY —Police released on Monday, November 5, the artist’s sketch or the computerized facial composite of one of the two gunmen of a radio broadcaster in Calamba, Misamis Occidental on Sunday, November 4.
The Misamis Occidental Police Provincial Office said the suspect has an estimated height of 5’5” to 5’6,” above 40-years-old, and fair complexion.
The suspect was wearing a green T-shirt, black short pants, and a red cap when he and his companion barged inside the house-cum-radio station of the victim, 57-year-old Juan Jumalon.

Jumalon, who was then on air, sustained a bullet wound in the lower lip with the bullet exiting the back of his head. He was taken to the hospital where he was declared dead.

But Misamis Occidental police chief Police Col. Dwight Monato said they need more information than the artist’s sketch to determine the suspect’s identity as well as that of his cohort.
Police Major Joann Navarro, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office-10 (Northern Mindanao), said in an interview that the description that helped formulate the facial composite was based on the surveillance footage and statements of the witnesses.
Monato hoped that they would be able to release the computerized facial composite of the other suspect as they enhance the footage.
He added that the suspect in the facial composite was not Jumalon’s gunman but the suspect who entered the victim’s residence.
The Special Investigation Task Group led by Monato formed for the case has obtained closed-circuit television camera footage in the area and is currently being reviewed by investigators to get information that would lead to the identity of the suspects.
Police are looking into two possible motives in the killing of Jumalon, also known as “Johnny Walker.”
Monato said they are not discounting the possibility that motive for the killing might be related to Jumalon’s job as a radio broadcaster.
Police are also looking into the possibility that the incident might be personal as the victim’s family, Monato said, recently was embroiled in heated arguments with some individuals.
“Their conflict or the issue has escalated to the court,” he said in a press briefing on Monday, with further elaborating.
Monato said the suspects were able to enter Jumalon’s house as they pretended to seek help in announcing a missing wallet and key on air.
The suspects fled onboard a motorcycle after the incident, Monato said.
