Cameroon national with 'stolen' French passport denied entry to PH
A Cameroon national was denied entry to the Philippines after presenting a stolen French passport, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Thursday, Nov. 23.
In a statement, the BI identified the Cameroonian as Valentine Forkwa Mbanwei, 31, who arrived last Nov. 20 at the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA).
“Mbanwei was immediately denied entry for misrepresentation, for not possessing an entry visa, and for being likely to become a public charge,” BI said.
“As a consequence of the fraud, Mbanwei’s name will be included in the BI’s blacklist, banning him from entering the Philippines indefinitely,” it said.
Citing a report from the BI’s Border Control and Enforcement Unit (BCEU), the bureau said “the African initially presented a French passport under a different name.”
“However, his ruse did not work out as it registered an Interpol (International Criminal Police Organization) hit indicating that the French passport was reportedly stolen,” it said.
Later, the BI said that Mbanwei admitted his true identity and presented his Cameroon passport,” it added.
