The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) on Monday, Nov. 20, recorded 104 aftershocks from the magnitude 6.8 earthquake that rocked Sarangani, Davao Occidental on Nov. 17.
As of 8 a.m. on Monday, Phivolcs had observed 104 aftershocks ranging from 1.4 magnitude to 4.3 magnitude.
Of the recorded earthquakes, 62 earthquakes have been plotted, while five tremors were already felt, said Phivolcs.
The 6.8-magnitude tremor, which occurred at 4:14 p.m.. on Nov. 17 at a depth of 72 kilometers (km) beneath the center had an epicenter located 34 km northwest of Sarangani Island.
Phivolcs also said there were about six “strong to great” earthquakes that jolted Davao Occidental and neighboring areas before.
