1,312 Sablayan Prison PDLs vaccinated vs influenza


A total of 1,312 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) in Occidental Mindoro had been vaccinated against influenza, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said.

Aside from the PDLs, BuCor said that 99 personnel and correction officer trainees had also be vaccinated.

“Influenza and flu-like symptoms are very rampant nowadays and consistently the highest number in morbidity case,” it said. 

“To lessen the high number of individuals consulting with the doctor and to lessen the morbidity rate of influenza, flu vaccination was rendered to personnel and PDLs,” it explained.

It said the flu vaccinations were done by personnel of the SPPF hospital headed by C/T CInsp. Joey A. Belvis.

“Through the approval of the SPPF superintendent, C/Supt. Robert A. Veneracion, and the suppport of BuCor Director General, General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr., the vaccination activity was continuously given to enhance the health programs of this prison with the goal to uplift patient care,” it also said.
