Wow! Jeff Bezos proposes to Lauren Sánchez with 30-carat ring

Future Mrs. Bezos shares she 'blacked out'

The world was taken aback by the news that Amazon's former CEO Jeff Bezos, 59 years old, proposed to TV host Lauren Sánchez, 53 years old, with a 30-carat diamond ring, valued at an estimated three to five million dollars.

The Emmy-winning journalist and the founder of Amazon got engaged in May 2023 aboard the billionaire's $500 million yacht named Koru.

Lauren shared to Vogue that she was completely surprised and overwhelmed when she discovered the huge engagement ring that Jeff had hidden under her pillow.

“When he opened the box, I think I blacked out a bit,” she said.

After the proposal, People interviewed jeweler Briony Raymond, who described the ring as having a stunning cushion-cut diamond in the 25 to 30-carat range, set in a classic four-prong platinum mounting. Raymond further commented, "It's a magnificent ring perfectly suited to her fabulous style.”

 


The jeweler also mentioned that "the diamond appears to be extremely white; based on a clarity commensurate with such a high color grade, I would estimate the cost for such an extraordinary ring to be anywhere from $3 million to upwards of $5 million depending on the exact specifications of the diamond.”

Regarding their wedding plans, the couple is still finalizing the specifics. They are currently considering whether to have a large or small celebration and whether it will take place in the stateside or abroad. Lauren is also contemplating her attire for the wedding and has mentioned Valentino, Christian Dior, and Dolce & Gabbana as some of her preferred designers. She has not made a final decision yet on what to wear for the big day.
