The fatality was identified as Jomarie Bernas.

Police believe that the driver of the Ford Expedition SUV identified as Jaehyun Lee was drunk during the incident that happened around 6 a.m. Lee, temporarily residing in Mandaue City, Cebu, was critically injured in the accident.

According to investigation, Lee was traversing Pope John Paul II Ave. when he hit a Toyota Vios sedan driven by Marc Dominic Arante.

Arante disembarked from his vehicle to confront Lee but the Korean sped off. Lee’s SUV hit another Toyota Vios driven by Erwin Conson.

The Korean continued driving until he hit a motorcycle driven by Bernas. The Korean still didn’t stop until he hit bicycle riders John Rin Lindra and Adrian Seguera.

The Korean continued driving until he lost control of the steering wheel and slammed into an electric concrete post. The SUV turned upside down because of the impact.

A resident saw the Korean bleeding and lying on the ground near the SUV.

The Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office brought the Korean and the injured motorists to the hospital.

Charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and multiple serious physical injuries will be filed against the Korean, police said.
