Travel to Kuala Lumpur by 2 Pinas stopped due to 'spurious' docs -- BI
Two Filipinas were stopped from leaving the country last Oct. 31 due to "spurious travel documens," the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Wednesday, Nov. 1.
They were not identified by BI in its statement. It said they were intercepted at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 before they could board their flight to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.
During questioning, the BI said the two women admitted that they paid their recruiters P75,000 each for jobs in Paris, France.
It said that the women "claimed to be officemates in an information technology (IT) networking company and presented documents claiming such."
“They, however, eventually confessed that the employment documents they presented are spurious and that these were only given to them by their recruiters whom they only met in Facebook,” it added.
The two women have been turned over to the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) for investigation and for the filing of charges against their illegal recruiters.
“Don’t gamble your lifelong savings by falling prey to these unscrupulous people whose only motives are to earn money at your expense,” BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said.
