In its 5 p.m. bulletin, PAGASA said typhoon Jenny  has maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 170 kph, moving westward at 15 kph.

PAGASA said the center of the eye of typhoon Jenny was at 275 km west-northwest of Itbayat, Batanes.

Itbayat, Batanes is now under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2, said PAGASA.

PAGASA said the rest of Batanes, Babuyan Islands, the northern portion of Apayao, the northwestern portion of Cagayan, and the northern portion of Ilocos Norte are under TCWS No. 1.

Heavy to intense rains (100 to 200 millimeters) will still be experienced in Batanes on Thursday, said PAGASA.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rains will prevail over the western portions of Luzon due to the enhancement of southwest monsoon or "habagat" by typhoon Jenny. (Lizst Torres Abello)
