BuCor starts digitization programs to streamline operations

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) has started streamlining its operations with the implementation of digitization programs.

BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. on Wednesday, Oct. 4, said the bureau's personnel underwent a seminar on its OneBuCor Portal and Inmate Management and Information System (IMIS) from Sept. 28 to 29.

Catapang said "the IMIS seminar was aimed at equipping  personnel with advanced skills and knowledge in utilizing the OneBuCor Portal and IMIS Platform, which is crucial in streamlining operations across different offices of the bureau."

"Director General Catapang's visionary leadership played a pivotal role in steering a course toward innovative solutions for inmate management,” BuCor said in a statement.

BuCor said the seminar was conducted by BuCor’s own information technology (IT) experts, CO1 Alvin Deang and CTO1 Ernest Tristan Macabata.

It said that during the seminar "Deang and Macabata provided valuable information and learning experiences for all participants, and both shared new insights, trends and best practices in the IMIS implementation."

It also said the seminar "emphasized the importance of data accuracy, security and accessibility, leaving the attendees with deeper understanding on the system’s portal."

At the same time, BuCor said that during the seminar the participants were "assisted in the hands-on sessions, and provided practical guidance in navigating the IMIS interface, data entry, and troubleshooting common issues.”
