Two convicted American sex offenders have been barred from entering the Philippines, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Sunday, Oct. 29.
The BI identified them Calvin Lee Spencer, 50, and Kevin David Bowens, 61, who arrived in the country last Oct. 25 from California and last Oct.28 from Hongkong, respectively.
“Philippine laws prohibit the entry of foreign nationals who have been previously convicted of crimes involving moral turpitude,” BI said in a statement.
“Both Spencer and Bowens have been included in the BI’s blacklist and barred from returning to the Philippines in the future,” it said.
“The United States government informed the BI that a court in Texas sentenced Spencer to ten years in prison in 2013 after being found guilty of molesting a 14-year-old female victim,” it said.
It also said that in "a United States court in Ohio convicted and sentenced Bowens to five years in prison for raping 16-year-old girl in 2005.”
