Filipina's travel to Oman stopped for 'fake documents' -- BI
A Filipina who claimed she was going to Oman to visit her husband was prevented from leaving the Philippines due to her fake travel documents, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Friday, Oct. 27.
The BI said the woman, who was not identified by the bureau, was intercepted by immigration officers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) last Oct. 19.
“The passenger, who was bound for Oman, had claimed she was going to visit her husband but the marriage certificate she presented turned out to be fake,” the BI said.
It said the woman "even presented an edited wedding picture in an attempt to deceive authorities.”
“She eventually confessed that all the documents she presented, including her lover’s alleged affidavit of support, are all fake,” the bureau said.
Later, the BI said the woman admitted she “paid more than P30,000 for the fake documents, which authorities believed were used to be able to illegally work abroad.”
“Her case was immediately forwarded to the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) for filing of cases against her recruiter,” the bureau said.
Further checked showed that the woman "also attempted to leave for Malaysia last September but was stopped by immigration officers for improper travel documents.”
