3 persons arrested in Iloilo City for 'operating aesthetic clinic sans gov't license'
Three persons were arrested in Iloilo City for "operating an aesthetic clinic without government license."
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said those arrested last Oct. 19 were Ivonne D. Pal, Roselyn T. Panes, and Michelle L. Tamdang inside the Angel’s Pretty Aesthetic Beauty Lounge.
The NBI said that those arrested and a aesthetic lounge have no license to practice medicine and operate a clinic from the Professional Regulatory Board (PRC) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Those arrested during an entrapment operation conducted by the NBI's Western Visayas Regional Office (NBI-WEVRO) were charged with violations of Republic Act 2382, the Medical Act of 1959, and estafa under Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code (RPC) in relation to RA 10175, the Cybercrime Law.
During the entrapment operation, the NBI said that Pal was caught receiving P10,000 from an NBI operative who acted as a poseur-patient seeking a nose lift procedure.
“The operation stemmed from numerous complaints of the botched non-surgical procedure for beauty treatment performed by alleged Cosmetic Surgeons/Aesthetic Practitioners of Angel’s Pretty Aesthetic Beauty Lounge located in Molo, Iloilo City,” the NBI said.
“According to the Complainants/Victims, instead of enhancing the appearance of their patients who underwent facial rejuvenation and contouring, they suffered acute bacterial skin and soft tissue infections, which occurred following the procedure,” it said.
It added that “the subject beauty establishment maintains a Facebook account where it publicly advertises/promotes their aesthetic services to the public online.”
