Four hundred persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF) in Davao del Norte have been vaccinated against pneumonia, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said.
Those who were vaccinated early this month were PDLs at DPPF's maximum security compound, medium security compound, minimum security compound, and at the Correctional Institution for Women in Mindanao.
It said the vaccinations were conducted by DPPF’s Health and Welfare Service Section (DPPF-HWSS).
“The goal in implementing this vaccination program is to improve the health and well-being of the elderly population confined at the DPPF," it said.
It also said that "to ensure continuity of care and maximize the long term benefits of the vaccination, follow-up activities were planned."
Prior the vaccination campaign, BuCor said that DPPF-HWSS led the celebration of the "Linggo ng Katandaang Filipino" or Elderly Filipino Week held last Oct. 1 to 7.
The celebration is in line with Memorandum Circular No. 34 issued by President Marcos, it added.
