CEBU CITY – The first four days of the campaign period in the barangay elections on October 30 here have been smooth and peaceful, the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) said on Saturday, October 21.
No untoward incidents have been reported since the 10-day campaign period started on Thursday, October 18, said Police Lt. Col. Janette Rafter, CCPO deputy city director for operations.
Rafter said candidates held motorcades on the first day of the campaign but the series of activities did not disrupt traffic flow in major roads here.
“They had activities but it did not affect the traffic. The barangays were very busy but there were no troubles reported,” said Rafter.
Rafter said that the CCPO led by Police Col. Ireneo Dalogdog is thankful to the candidates and their supporters for ensuring that their activities were done in an orderly manner.
She said the CCPO is hoping that the remaining days of the campaign period will be trouble-free.
The campaign period will end on October 28.
“We want to thank the candidates and their supporters for cooperating. Hopefully, the peaceful conduct of campaign activities will be sustained,” said Rafter.
