225 PDLs from San Ramon Prison in Zamboanga City set for release -- BuCor
A total of 225 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF) in Zamboanga City has been set for release, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said.
In preparation for their release, BuCor said that the PDLs underwent personality development and stress management lectures conducted by the bureau's External Affairs Section (EAS) Chief CT/INsp. May C. Lat during her visit at SRPPF from Sept. 25 to 28.
While BuCor did not state the reason for the release, based on previous statements the bureau said those released were those who have served their prison terms, have been acquitted of their charges, or have been granted bail or parole.
BuCor said that lectures were given to 149 PDLs at the maximum and medium security compound and 76 PDLs at the minimum security compound of SRPPF.
It said that Lat and CT/Supt. Noel M. Marquez, director of BuCor's external relations, visited SRPPF "to monitor, evaluate, classify, and address all EAS-SRPPF problems and concerns.”
"Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. and C/Supt. Doming F. Suyat, SRPPF superintendent, are dedicated to strengthening the implementation of the Reintegration Program in order to produce a reformed PDL and to achieve a successful re-entry into the mainstream society,” it said.
