Arts and Culture

  • The Gateway Art Fair is back on its second year. The 4-day exhibit includes art talks, art demos, and bazaar where you can avail original items by local creatives and will run from Oct. 5 to 8 at the Quantum Skyview in Gateway Mall 2.

  • SM North Cinemas held a gala premiere for 'Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie'. Kids and their young-at-heart parents enjoyed the animated film on the big screen.
  • The life and works of Manlilikha ng Bayan, Magdalena Gamayo, titled ‘Inubon a Dayaw’ was displayed on the National Commission for Culture and Arts. The exhibit will run for the whole month of October in celebration of Indigenous Peoples Month and Museums and Galleries Month.

Fashion and Beauty

  • Longines launches the Dolce Vita watch collection in the Philippines. Inspired by the rectangular model from the 1920s, this watch range celebrates the Italian way of life, “dolce vita”  or living the sweet life. Brought to you by Lucerne, this watch collection comes in a variety of styles and colors, from stainless steel and leather straps.

  • Cebuana jewelery designer G Young captivated everyone with “Meet Me Thursday,” a fine jewelry exhibit presenting her newest best creations and newest designs. Happening at The Rizal Room at the Manila House Private Club, the event aims to reintroduce brand, Vero, and its bespoke bijouterie and objet d'art.

  • Paris-based Japanese brand Comme des Garçons brings to the Philippines its fall-winter 2023 collection. Unvieled at the Univers One Rockwell store in Makati City were designer Rei Kawakubo’s fall lines for men and women. The menswear line presented monochromatic pieces that are deconstructed and reconstructed. Textures and fabric manipulation were some of the techniques highlighted in the womenswear line. Also present in the store were the brand’s collaboration collection with brands such as Lacoste and Nike.
  • From the beauty brand that gave us cute stackable lippies, Chuchu now releases its Dewy Cushion and Loose Powder products. Hydrating and lightweight with medium coverage, the cushion comes in six shades. Meanwhile, breathable with a blurring effect in a soft matte finish, the loose powder is available in two translucent shades. 
  • After the successful launch of the glittery and sparkling first drop of Careline’s SpongeBob collection, here’s another round with so cute and yet effective makeup line composed of waterproof Aye-Aye lashes, gel and liquid BFF liner, Beach brow duo (brow liner and mascara), Bubble Town setting spray, and Stickini brow soap. 
  • Ever Bilena levels up the lip oil game with its Serum Tinted Lip Oil. Made with argan oil, shea butter, vitamin E, and peony extract, this lip oil gives a pop of color and keeps the lips hydrated and moisturized. 
  • Happy Skin celebrated its 10th anniversary at White Space in Makati last Oct. 3.   • GSK Philippines recently hosted a media round table event at Seda Makati Hotel Residences on Oct. 2. The purpose of the event was to support the 5th anniversary of the enactment of RA 11146, also known as the First 1000 Days Law or Kalusugan at Nutrisyon ng Mag-Nanay Act, which will be celebrated in November this year. Dr. Fatima Gimenez and Dr. Vicente Y. Belizario emphasized the importance of vaccination during a child's first 1000 days to provide them with optimal protection against vaccine-preventable diseases (VPDs) during this crucial stage of their development.
