Bilibid PDL caught with shabu; will be charged with possession of illegal drugs
A person deprived of liberty (PDL) was caught in possession of illegal drugs at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City, the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said on Thursday, Oct. 12.
BuCor identified the PDL as Jun Torres who was caught last Wednesday, Oct. 11, in possession of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu inside NBP's maximum security compound.
“A criminal case for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Act of 2002 will be filed against Torres before the Muntinlupa City Prosecutors Office,” it said.
Citing a report from maximum security compound Commander C/Insp. Abel Ciruela, BuCor said “PDL Jun Torres acted uneasy upon seeing members of the security patrol who were then conducting regular inspection within their area of responsibility.”
“Torres was frisked and upon inspection, one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing undetermined weight of white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu placed inside a match box was found in his pocket,” BuCor said.
“The confiscated contraband was transported to Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency in Quezon City for laboratory examination and yielded positive result,” it said.
It also said that Torres will be subjected to a drug test at the NBP Hospital and will be detained in a preventive cell to undergo investigation.
