Over 17,000 flood-affected individuals receive assistance from PH Red Cross
The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) has provided assistance to 17,809 individuals who were affected by shear line-induced heavy rains and flooding in various parts of the country.

Based on the organization's report on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 16,722 affected individuals from Agusan Del Norte, Davao De Oro, Misamis Oriental-Gingoog City, Zamboanga Del Norte, Zamboanga City, Palawan, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Misamis Occidental, Oriental Mindoro, Lapu-Lapu Cordova, and Sulu were served with hot meals.
PRC also deployed its Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Unit with water tankers and water bladders to provide 300,000 liters of potable water to Misamis Occidental and Zamboanga City.
Its volunteers also conducted hygiene promotion activities for 2,990 evacuees in Agusan Del Norte, Palawan, Misamis Oriental, and Misamis Occidental.
PRC added that 1,087 children from Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental, and Palawan participated in its child-friendly activities hosted by the PRC Welfare Unit, while 1,914 adults from Zamboanga City, Lanao Del Norte, Agusan Del Norte, Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental, and Palawan received psychological first aid sessions.
"Tuloy-tuloy ang pamamahagi natin ng tulong sa mga kababayan nating biktima ng baha sa Luzon, Visayas at Mindanao (We are continuously distributing aid to our countrymen who are victims of flooding in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao)," said PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Gordon.
The organization noted that its Health Services Unit also dispensed 490 anti-Leptospirosis medicine to front liners and flooded barangays in Misamis Oriental and Zamboanga City.
Hygiene kits, sleeping kits, food packs, jerry cans, and kitchen sets were also distributed by RC143 volunteers since Christmas weekend.
