More murder raps to be filed vs Rep Teves – Degamo's lawyer
More criminal complaints will be filed against suspended Negros Oriental 3rd District Rep. Arnolfo “Arnie" A. Teves Jr., the lawyer of the family of slain Gov. Roel R. Degamo said on Monday, April 17.
“I think in a few days from now we will be filing new murder cases involving previous killings also,” lawyer Levito D. Baligod told journalists covering the Department of Justice (DOJ).
“Inaayos ko lang kung saan ititira ‘yung pamilya nung mga witnesses namin (I am just securing the places where our witnesses in the killing could stay),” Baligod said.for the families of the witnesses involved in the killings).”
“Nandiyan na ‘yung mga affidavit nung witnesses (The witnesses have already issued sworn affidavits),” said Baligod who alleged that the witnesses pointed to Teves as the one who reportedly ordered the killings.
Last March 7, Baligod filed with the DOJ murder complaints against Teves for the deaths of three persons in Negros Oriental in 2019.
He identified the alleged victims as former National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agent Miguel Dungog who ran for the position of provincial board member of Negros Oriental in 2019, Lester Pialago Bato, and Pacito Retes Libron.
The DOJ has yet to start the preliminary investigation on the murder complaints.
“I’m asking the Department of Justice also give attention to these three previous killings because actually there are a lot more,” he said.
Earlier, he had said there are at least 64 incidents of killings that need to be looked into in the province.
Aside from the murder complaints filed by Baligod, Teves has been linked as “mastermind” in the slaying of Degamo last March 4.
Teves, who is still abroad and presumed to be in Cambodia after his trip to the United States, has denied all the allegations against him.
